Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, motherhood, interior design and culture. Hope you have a nice stay!

Capri: the land of the lemons

Capri: the land of the lemons

My happy place! Capri is one of my favorite places in the world. Intoxicating beauty, amazing food and wonderful nightlife.

The Lemon Travel Guide to Capri

Where to stay

J.K. Capri: unparalleled service, chic suites and fabulous decor and hotel grounds. My husband and I have stayed at this property every summer since our first trip. The hotel has a shuttle that will take you to both Anacapri as well as downtown Capri with 5-10 minute notice. Stefano, who is the operation manager is the absolute best! On our first trip to the hotel we arrived to the greeting of 5 hotel staff members, then were pulled aside to be told we left our passports in Ravello. This was our last stop after 6 weeks of travel, and we only had a few days. Enter panic...while on the phone with Palazzo Avino hotel (wonderful hotel in Ravello) Stefano takes the phone from me, replaces it with my now favorite cocktail, an aperol spritz and tells me he will take care of it and not to worry! Thanks to the cocktail(S) and Stefano I had nothing to do. J.K. Capri had passport picked up and returned to us for a nominal fee. This hotel truly embodies 5 star service. The pictures of the hotel and the views brought us there, but the service is what keeps us coming back!

Capri Tiberio Palace: I haven't stayed at this hotel, but I have friends who have and love it. It's a beautiful property.

Caesar Augustus Capri: Another hotel I have not stayed in personally, but hear wonderful things about. Amazing sunset.

Airbnb/VRBO: We had friends rent a place last summer and honestly it was a bit of pain to get around as it is a fairly private, hilly island.

Where to eat

Daytime

La Fontelina: My Favorite beach club in Capri, make reservations ahead and plan your day around this iconic lunch spot. Have too much wine and buy a sweatshirt - or at least that is what I did.

Il Riccio: Another fabulous beach club, more mellow and upscale. Do not miss the dessert room!

La Conca del Sogno: Stunning Amalfi coast restaurant, take boat and make day of lunch at one of the best restaurants in Italy.

After Dark

Aurora: Right in the center of town, a few steps from Taverna (which you will go to after dinner). Amazing truffle pizza and pastas!

Mamma: Beautiful, modern, posh dining in Capri- stunning food. We got to meet the owner on our last visit, who was wonderful and shared they also own a hotel on the island.

Paolino: The Lemon tree restaurant, beautiful dinner under lemon trees. Not my favorite food, but love the ambiance.

Villa Verde: Wonderful garden dining, big restaurant with a lot of fun up their sleeves.

Taverna Anema e Core: THE place to be after dinner, live music, great crowd and celebrity central. We end up there every night and always love our time!

Sweaty nights at Taverna!

Lemon Life Tip: Dedicate one day to a rented boat around the islands, the blue grotto, lunch by boat and a wonderful way to enjoy Capri. We've used Gianni's boat to rent boat for the day in the past and found the experience to be great. Your hotel can arrange as well.

What is Happening? Waiting for baby lemon.
